Whether you’re coming in for a full Brazilian wax or a less-invasive Bikini wax, the experience can be intimidating. But rest assured, the results are worth it. Not only will you decrease the likelihood of itchiness and bumps normally caused by razors, but you can even change the patterns of your hair growth! While shaving often causes hair to grow back much thicker and coarser, removing the hair with wax pulls it from the root and causes it to grow back thinner and lighter. This means that the hair removal results will last significantly longer and that subsequent Brazilian or bikini waxes will be much easier on your skin. But don’t take my word for it. Women from all over the Inland Empire rave about their bikini waxing experiences. You can read about them here.

Tips for Preparing for Your Next Brazilian or Bikini Wax

-Note that getting a Brazilian or a bikini wax within two days before or after your period is not advisable. The area can be extremely sensitive during this time, which will make the procedure more painful. It can also be understandably difficult to wax while a client is on their period which is why most waxing centers ask that you do not schedule your appointment during this time.
-Be sure to shower before your waxing appointment! Rinse the area well and lightly exfoliate to reduce the likelihood of breakouts or irritation. Not only will this optimize your results, but it will be much appreciated by your waxer, as well!
-Do not apply lotion or harsh skincare products (e.g. AHAs) to the area that is to be waxed. This can tamper with your waxing service.
-Hair growth should be at least ¼ inch in length, and it is not necessary to trim your hair before attending your appointment. The longer the hair the better it waxes off!
-Accutane, Retin-A, or other prescription skincare medications make waxing risky for your skin. Thus, if you are taking these, you can only be tweezed, but not waxed.
-Drink water and stay hydrated for best results and least pain.
-You may take Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or another pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment, if you feel that it will help. However, it is not necessary and waxing is generally less painful than people expect. Do not take too high of a dose, either, since this can thin your blood and cause excess bleeding around the hair follicle, which means the process will take longer!
-Relax! Stress can actually increase your pain during waxing, which is why it is so important to have a waxer who will make sure you are perfectly comfortable before the procedure.
